Still My Guitar Gently Weeps

Been a while since I've done some artwork goodness haha.

I loved Kubo & the Two Strings so much, that was such a great movie. I ended up going to see it twice and it was just as fantastic the second time. So much you don't notice the first time around..! The craft in the film is impeccable and everything felt so textural with the paper themes. Loved it and would go see it again just to marvel at the work that was put into everything!

So, here's my contribution to the movie & the Story Within Contest!
The title is referencing the ending credits song (which I also adore) and all I could see when thinking of what to draw was the experiences, tragedies and memories Kubo faces and has to deal with-- he's a tough kid!
How these things would interact was inspired by the song— thus the memories of those he loves flow forth in waterlike sections. The trials he faces are contained in rigid paper-forms, which are a symbol he will manage to triumph over them in the end like the paper he can manipulate. Here, he's facing some sort of difficulty, but holding those dear moments close in times of trouble will get him through it.
